Raku Fired Ceramics, F-27

$145.00

Feathers is exactly what the name entails. There is no glaze. I heat a thrown and bisque piece to 1100 degrees in my Raku kiln. I remove the piece from the kiln and place it on a heated brick. At this temperature, the clay has expand so that it can accept the carbon from the burning feathers. I arrange the feathers on the hot piece and allow the hair to burn. When the piece cools it traps the carbon, even the smoke that flows up the side can get trapped. I allow the piece to fully cool, wash it and allow to completely dry before sealing it.

Every Raku fired ceramic piece is a beautiful work of art. A must for every ceramics collector.

Raku is not food safe or water tight.
